New: New Game Engine - Huge Update!
Each player on the field now has a predetermined Assignment, which is decided by the Play chosen. This was true before, but only for offense, not as complex
Each player's overall at each Assignment is visible on their Player page and is uniquely calculated based on each player's individual attributes
Defensive plays have been added. Some plays have player assignments that are blitzers
Concept of zone vs man coverage has been added
Concept of gaps has been added. Blockers can block only players in their, or nearby gaps. Defenders who are rushing attack a specific gap depending on the play
Concept of engagements has been added for blockers and rushers, and for receivers and pass defenders. This means double coverage has been added and noted in play results.
Concept of unique pass routes has been added. Each pass route has a side (L/R) and zone (short, med, deep). This corresponds to defenders on the field playing zone in the different locations
QB Scrambles now account for each pass defender vs. the QB to determine scramble success, starting with defenders closer to the LOS
FB are now additionally able to rush and be receivers on certain plays
Receiver vs Pass Defenders - height difference now influences pass outcomes
Improvement: Teams list - OVR, OFF, DEF, ST ratings now consider all starters (required depth chart players) instead of only the top starter at each position
New: Contracts Update!
Added Guaranteed (GTD) portion of all players contracts
All remaining GTD money is paid out as Salary Cap Penalties when a player leaves a team in the middle of their contract.
This replaces the old flat 25%-of-salary cap penalty system.
Salary Cap Penalties are now paid out over a maximum of two seasons, depending on years remaining: this contract year (1yr worth of GTD),
and ALL the remaining GTD is a penalty on the next contract year
1) Adjusted Rookie Wage scale to be more in line with NFL and percentage based off the league cap setting (almost all rookie contracts are now cheaper)
2) Flipped the pricing of contracts so that long term deals are cheaper than short term deals, matching PFL player expectations.
3) Variable GTD structure added to replace the flat 25% cap penalty
-Rookies scale down on GTD money as the draft progresses
-Veteran resigns and FA bids have GTD scale based on Raw overall. Additionally, the percentage of the contract that is guaranteed is higher for shorter term deals.
4) Players cut/traded with 3 or 4 years remaining on their deal will see the remaining dead cap from future seasons accelerated into the next season. Previously, all dead cap hits were evenly spread throughout all years remaining.
5) Teams acquiring players through waivers or trades will only be responsible to pay the remaining non-GTD portion of contracts, as the original team is paying the GTD. This is in line with the NFL salary/bonus structure.
6) Free Agency bidding will now include an additional box to increase the GTD amount for the player. Free agents will choose deals not just on total money but will also be considering how much is guaranteed and likely to be earned.

New Game Sim Update: Play Recognition has changed to be more dynamic. Defensive players no longer gain attribute bonuses. Instead, the defense chance for success increases in the game sim.
There is no longer a minimum or maximum to the amount of plays per formation to trigger this effect. Repeated play type (run/pass) out of the same formation will yield better defensive results if the
offense chooses to replicate the same formation and play type. The effect is exponential the more repetitions occur in the same game. This is to encourage more balanced and varied playbooks.
NOTE: There are no longer any indicators in the game log showing "play recognition bonuses"

Added Game Sim Engine option to League Admin. (Legacy or New). This is a temporary option until the New engine is finalized

Major rewrite of all pass and run play logic for the New game engine! The engine now considers attributes of individual player matchups on the field (blocker vs. pass rusher, WR vs CB, TE vs LB), which all change depending on formations, play types, and blitzing players.
Previously, the engine relied on averages of relevant players instead of specific individual matchups between players.
This should highlight and expose skill gaps between player matchups better than before. For example, a low rated CB1 vs elite WR1 should see the WR with success for that game
Each play now assigns individual player assignments (blocker, passer, receiver route long, pass rusher, etc) instead of "percentage weight".
This opens up future opportunities for custom plays/formations/playbooks, as well as players playing "out of position" someday
Added play details including pass blockers who get beat, run blockers when they pancake a defender, pass rushers who apply pressure, and which player is blitzing
Added Blocking to Stats and Team Players Stats views
With each player having individual assignments, blitzing should be more accurate. The additional pass rusher decreases pass coverage for that play
QB sack avoidance is influenced by QB Agility and Mental
QB scrambling is influenced by QB Speed
Fumbles are influenced by Carrying ability
NOTE: "HB rec %" currently does nothing in the New Game Sim Engine so it is hidden from Team Options using the New engine. Player assignments are defined by the Play in the new engine. More plays and customization is planned for the future.
NOTE: There's more I want to do to improve the Game Engine, but I had to draw a line to get this update released! This update lays the foundation to make exciting future updates possible.
